Leading European Firm Adopts Interwoven Matter-Centric Collaboration Solution to Address E-Mail Records Management and Paper Overload

SUNNYVALE, Calif – August 21, 2006 – Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that SJ Berwin LLP, a top-50 U.K. law firm with operations spanning Europe, has achieved broad benefits through its adoption of Interwoven WorkSite, the leading solution for legal document management. By using WorkSite for both matter-centric collaboration and e-mail management to create a unified client file, the firm is realizing more than $1.25 million in annual savings through reduced storage costs alone. The Interwoven solution also enabled SJ Berwin to increase productivity and more effectively enforce policies for security, email retention, compliance, and disaster recovery.

With over 150 partners and 500 attorneys serving clients throughout Europe, London-based SJ Berwin faced challenges common to many law firms and other professional services firms. Paper-based files, which tended to reflect an individual lawyer's role in a matter, made collaboration difficult across the firm's nine offices and incurred increasing costs for storage, copying, and shipping. At the same time, the rising volume of the firm’s work, especially in the form of e-mail messages, meant paper files had become gradually more difficult to manage and audit and there was an increasing risk that files would not be kept up-to-date. Also, because the paper, e-mail messages, and electronic documents were handled differently on different systems, there was a risk that matter files would not be complete, making policies for security, retention, compliance, and disaster recovery difficult to enforce.

The firm's previous document management solution proved unable to meet their requirements for e-mail management, so the firm launched an initiative to move to a unified, electronic client/matter file system.
