Government Department Selects Interwoven WCM Solution for Industry-Leading Ease-of-Use, Proven Effectiveness in Government Agencies, and Ongoing Market Success

SUNNYVALE, Calif - June 20, 2005 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that the New South Wales Department of Health in Australia (NSW Health), which monitors the performance of the state's public health system, has implemented Interwoven's Web Content Management (WCM) solution to centrally and efficiently manage the content of its public-facing and internal websites. By using Interwoven's robust and highly-scalable WCM solution, NSW Health expects to improve the distribution of high-quality health information internally and to the general public, ensuring the delivery of first-rate healthcare to citizens across the state.

Following a research study from which NSW Health found that 27 percent of all Web users in Australia were using the Internet to search for health-related information, the department determined that it needed to improve the way in which it communicated with the public, as well as expand its reach to citizens. The research findings, which also came at a time when SARS was a key health concern in the Asia Pacific region, convinced NSW Health that maintaining a website which contained up-to-date, timely information was not just important, but critical to ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare, commented Greg Weblin, online services manager at NSW Health. "The onus was on the department to provide accurate, relevant, error-free Web content to make sure that all involved parties-from the patient to the doctor-received access to the best information on health issues."

After reviewing a number of different WCM solutions, and comparing the offerings with NSW Health's specific needs, the department concluded that it needed to streamline and automate the back-end processes involved in content creation and distribution to its website. "Once our needs became clear, we began to search for a full-featured, robust, and flexible Web-enabled content management system to meet current and future business needs. This would enable staff to maintain their own content, replacing the time-consuming, manual effort the department was currently expending to update the site. We also realized that by providing a common, centralized WCM solution, we could save considerable costs," Weblin explained.

Following a detailed evaluation process involving five different vendors, NSW Health selected Interwoven's proven WCM solution, powered by Interwoven TeamSite software. The department evaluated WCM solutions on their ability to help the department reuse and reformat content, workflow and user management, and publishing capabilities. NSW Health also studied each vendor's technology approach including adherence to open standards. Lastly, vendors were evaluated on their viability and proven success in the market. According to Weblin, Interwoven was chosen because it scored the highest in all areas.

"Interwoven TeamSite allows us to establish one standard across the statewide health system with regard to Web content maintenance and content authorization processes via an electronic workflow, thereby reducing the reliance upon paper-based systems. Interwoven TeamSite was chosen as it has the capacity to be a robust and fully-scalable solution across all of NSW Health's websites, and because of the solution's proven ease-of-use and effectiveness within other state government agencies," Weblin added.

"NSW Health's selection of Interwoven reinforces our rapidly growing list of satisfied customers within the public sector," said James Murray, vice president, Asia Pacific, Interwoven. "It's tremendous validation to play such an integral role in helping the department reduce costs and enhance operational efficiencies to achieve its goal of better serving the public."

NSW Health's selection of Interwoven is further reinforcement of Interwoven's continued WCM leadership across the globe. Forrester Research recently named Interwoven a WCM leader for both internal and external Web initiatives in its 2005 WCM Wave report, "The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management, Q1 2005."
