ECM Leader Reinforces its Open Architecture Commitment by Empowering Developers to More Easily Create Platform Independent ECM Solutions

PHILADELPHIA, PA - AIIM 2005 Conference - May 17, 2005 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that it is making it even easier for developers to create and deploy content-rich, platform independent ECM solutions for business through the availability of Web Services via the Interwoven Developer Network, DevNet. As part of its ongoing commitment to open architecture and open standards, Interwoven is now providing its extensive developer network with Web Services Description Language (WSDL) for the company's widely-adopted Digital Asset Management, Web Content Management and Content Provisioning solutions. Interwoven DevNet serves over 12,000 members of the Interwoven Developer Network.

Web Services play an increasingly important role in the ECM industry. As evolving business requirements place new emphasis on cross-functional and inter-departmental integration, developers are moving beyond the traditional model of self-contained ECM applications and are creating dynamic, highly efficient business solutions with independent Web Services.

Interwoven's broader extension of Web Services to the development community is further reinforcement of its Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA) ECM strategy. As embodied in Interwoven's current ECM platform, the SOA enables delivery of content-rich business applications as shared services, which can be invoked from composite applications, external packaged applications, third-party portal servers and business process automation systems. As a result, development and integration become more agile, flexible, and responsive to the needs of trading partners.

Said Interwoven customer Lucas Cochrane, solution designer, BAU Solutions Canada Inc., "Interwoven's Web Services provide an efficient and flexible way to integrate content management services into our enterprise processes. The language-neutral, firewall-friendly APIs exposed through Interwoven's Web Services enable BAU Solutions Canada to offer deep application integration capabilities to key clients in telecommunications, retail, high-tech and government, thereby providing high ROI on their investment in Interwoven. We are pleased that Interwoven is making all of its Web Service APIs available to the development community via DevNet, as this will accelerate adoption and mutual support throughout the developer community."

Previously, Interwoven Web Services were only available to Software Development Kit customers. However, given the growing industry interest in and adoption of Web Services, Interwoven is leading the ECM industry by extending the availability of its ECM WSDLs to support this new model of ECM solution development. Interwoven's Web Services provide an efficient and flexible way to integrate content management services into enterprise processes. Further, the language-neutral, firewall-friendly APIs exposed through Interwoven's Web Services enable developers to deploy ECM capabilities where they're most needed in the enterprise, within a unified, user-friendly interface.

"Interwoven is committed to providing comprehensive tools with which our community of developers can develop specific ECM solutions," said Charles Hough, vice president of platform marketing, Interwoven. "By making our Web Services widely available, we are enabling customers, independent software developers, and integrators to more easily take full advantage of Interwoven's industry-leading ECM capabilities for the development of enterprise-wide content-centric applications."
