Interwoven Helps USPS Serve its Citizen Community with Current Postal Services Information

SUNNYVALE, Calif., -March 1, 2004- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that the United States Postal Service (USPS) was awarded the prestigious Grace Hopper Technology Leadership Award in the category of "improving services to citizens and enterprises" for its outstanding public Website with content management solutions provided by Interwoven. The USPS site, www.usps.com, serves as a one-stop shop for citizens to change mail delivery, pay for shipping, and obtain other postal services information.

The 12th Annual Government Technology Leadership Awards program recognizes federal projects that make exceptional contributions to mission accomplishment, cost effectiveness, and service to the public. The awards are known as the "Gracies," in honor of Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, a technology trailblazer and 43-year Navy veteran deeply committed to promoting innovation. To win a Gracie, a federal agency must show how its idea challenged conventional thinking and by using technology to solve a pressing business issue. Winners are chosen by the Academy for Government Technology Leadership, a group of experts on the federal government's use of technology.

"We are extremely honored to have received this award," said Pete Stark, manager, Corporate Business System Solutions in the Postal Service Information Technology department. "With Interwoven as the content management foundation for the site, we have been able to reduce internal costs."

"Interwoven's content management solution helps my team update content quickly and easily," said Jane Langdon, manager, USPS.com. "Our Website is heavily visited because of the value it delivers to our customers." In 2003, usps.com received more than 176 million visits and handled 25.4 million paid transactions. Customers can conveniently access information about postal products, request services and pay for transactions. Customers can get ZIP Codes, calculate postage rates, confirm delivery of their packages, put a hold on their mail or change their address, buy stamps, print shipping labels and pay for postage, and request free carrier pickup.

This year's winners were chosen from nine federal agencies and state and local governments, and the Academy recognized excellence in seven categories:

- Improving services to citizens and enterprises;
- Contributing to advances in homeland security or the war on terrorism;
- Breaking down barriers between government organizations;
- Demonstrating leadership in addressing privacy and security concerns;
- Providing citizens and individuals with useful access to government information;
- Increasing public participation in governance, specifically the electoral or regulatory process;
- Contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

"We are extremely pleased that the U.S. Postal Service has been acknowledged for its innovations in serving the community," said Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing at Interwoven. "We are proud to have played an important role in their successful initiative and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship."

The Academy received 130 nominations and selected 27 finalists, and from that group, the judges chose 12 winners.
