Interwoven Content Management and Intelligence Technology Deliver Intuitive, Easy to Use, and Personalized Online Experience to More than 8 Million Members
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - February 9, 2004 - Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that customer Kaiser Permanente, America's leading integrated health care organization with more than 8 million members, has launched an integrated Web presence as the result of merging its award-winning member portal http://www.members.kaiserpermanente.org with its award-winning publicly-facing Website, http://www.kaiserpermanente.org. Serving as a gateway to Kaiser Permanente information and services, the newly integrated site makes the experience of interacting with Kaiser Permanente easier and more convenient than ever before.
"When it comes to leveraging the Internet to enhance healthcare services, Kaiser Permanente is clearly ahead of the curve," says Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing at Interwoven. "Using the Interwoven platform, Kaiser Permanente has successfully chartered a course that will continue to reap benefits for both Kaiser Permanente and its members-- namely improving the quality and convenience of care while containing overhead costs."
Kaiser Permanente's member portal, which enables members to conduct online transactions ranging from ordering a prescription to scheduling an appointment, was recently awarded the highest accreditation award in the industry by URAC, a Washington DC-based health care accrediting organization acknowledging that the Website incorporates rigorous standards while providing the highest quality information and services.
"Instead of having to toggle between a number of different sites, our members can go to one site and get everything they need in one place," said Tim Kieschnick, strategy practice leader at Kaiser Permanente's Internet Services Group. "And because we personalize our content, we can expose our members to services and information that they may have never known existed. It's all about improving the quality of our member interactions."
Using Interwoven MetaTagger Content Intelligence Server software, Kaiser Permanente now can automatically enrich its content with metadata, enabling it to be categorized and targeted to specific visitors based on designated personalization rules. Similarly, Interwoven TeamSite Content Server software provides the necessary flexible workflows that enable Kaiser Permanente to manage its enormous amount of content while ensuring that this content is presented accurately and consistently across both sites.
"When we undertook this project, we wanted to give our members a personally relevant experience that was intuitive and easy to use," continued Kieschnick "To do that, we needed a content management platform that would allow us to manage and reuse the massive amount of content that we planned to feature on the site. We had to take a huge amount of complex content and present it in a simple way that made sense to the individual user. Interwoven played an important role in helping us achieve our goals."
