New Interwoven 6 Platform's Services-Oriented Architecture Facilitates Integrations with Leading Line of Business Applications, Boosting Productivity and Reducing Development Costs

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -Aug. 12, 2003- Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world-leading provider of content management for the enterprise, today announced that the Interwoven 6 Platform supports the new version of BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform. Today's announcement coincides with the recent availability of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1, a unified application infrastructure platform that provides superior business integration through the convergence of application development and integration from BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS). Partners since early 2000, Interwoven and BEA are collaborating on tighter integration with BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1, which are designed to deliver faster time-to-value to joint Global 2000 customers such as Novartis, Singapore Airlines, and Toshiba America Business Solutions.

The Interwoven 6 Platform, generally available later this quarter, is designed to provide easy-to-use content management software for global organizations, and underpin a wide range of enterprise applications-from intranets and internal portals to public Websites, dealer portals and extranets-to enable businesses to manage their mission-critical information and gain competitive advantage. TeamSite 6.0 leverages BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 to power Interwoven user interfaces and deliver breakthrough user experience. Business users across the enterprise, creating or reviewing content, have easy access to content management services via TeamSite user interfaces or Interwoven portlets for BEA WebLogic Portal.

"BEA customers are demanding extensible portal solutions with easy access to relevant content and applications," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager, global software partners, BEA Systems. "Together, Interwoven and BEA enable the rapid and seamless integration of enterprise content management into the portal, facilitating cross-functional collaboration while boosting productivity."

Content Management Industry's First Services-Oriented Architecture Eases BEA Integration

The Interwoven 6 Platform is built on top of Interwoven ContentServices 2.0 SDK, which embraces a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and provides portal applications with easy-to-integrate, standards-based access to content management services such as task management, workflow, user access, project configuration, and versioning. A first in the content management industry, Interwoven's SOA gives organizations the flexibility to develop content-centric applications independent of platform or language and enables integration of Interwoven content management with the BEA WebLogic Platform via Web Services - ultimately boosting productivity and reducing development costs enterprise-wide.

"Enterprises deploying corporate intranets and portals to thousands of users require a scalable, integrated infrastructure," said Kevin Hayden, vice president, corporate marketing for Interwoven. "In order to meet the exploding growth of contributors, Interwoven supports BEA WebLogic Platform as a proven application infrastructure for delivering our new, easy-to-use interfaces for publishing and sharing content across the enterprise."

Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV) provides the worlds best-integrated enterprise content management software. Allied with the leading enterprise application providers, the Interwoven 6 platform provides content management for more than 1200 organizations world wide including Air France, Cisco Systems, General Electric, General Motors, and Yamaha.
