Interwoven to Offer IBM DB2 Records Manager Technology as Part of Interwoven 6 Platform
SUNNYVALE, California — July 21, 2003 — Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world- leading provider of content management
for the enterprise, today announced an original equipment manufacturer agreement whereby IBM DB2 Records Manager will be offered as part of the newly launched Interwoven 6 Platform
(see http://www.interwoven.cn/news/press/2003/10721umbrealla.html).
With Interwoven's new Records Management product line, the IBM records management technology will extend the Interwoven 6 Platform to include leading-edge records management capabilities, such as well-defined processes for record retention and destruction backed by supporting audit trails complementing the comprehensive, easy-to-use collaborative content management capabilities provided by Interwoven. Together, these technologies enable organizations to engage business users across the enterprise not only during content creation, but also during the identification and classification of critical documents, while ensuring this content complies with organizational record retention plans.
The solution comes at a time when it has become well recognized that businesses require an enterprise-wide, end-to-end content management solution to meet increasingly stringent records management regulations, such as US Department of Defense ("DoD") 5015.2. According to a June 2003 research report from Forrester Research, "Records management initiatives should be enterprise-wide, rather than departmental in nature. An enterprise-wide records management policy and implementation provides the greatest degree of consistent policy implementation and easiest record retrieval because content is managed by a single solution. Organizations that have to live with multiple records managements systems must consider how these solutions will work together to globally enforce corporate policies."
Developed in response to these requirements, the Interwoven Records Management product line:
Provides a single user interface for both content management and classification;
Automates and regulates critical content processes from creation to destruction;
Enables multiple users throughout the organization to declare and classify all types of content ranging from Web pages and documents to e-mails, and instant messaging sessions; and
Reduces operational risk for organizations by enabling compliance with government and industry regulations including DoD 5015.2 and related international standards, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") Rule 17a, National Association of Securities Dealers ("NASD") and New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE") electronic record keeping requirements.
"With the proliferation of regulatory mandates, the ability to control the entire lifecycle process of all content across the enterprise is no longer 'nice to have' capability but a necessity for today's businesses," said John Bara, senior vice president of marketing at Interwoven. "Interwoven Protect Records Management provides businesses with an end-to-end solution that helps them fully enforce records retention processes across the organization and mitigate risks associated with inaccurate or inconsistent content."
The Interwoven Records Management product line is a component of the Interwoven Protect Program - a program designed to deliver comprehensive solutions to meet increasingly frequent and stringent compliance requirements.
