Interwoven Content Management Powers Channel 4 "Big Brother Online," Helping to Attract Millions of Fans Daily

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - December 18, 2002 - Channel 4 Interactive, in partnership with Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), has won the Content Management Project Award at the prestigious IM 2002 Awards, for Big Brother 2002 Online: www.channel4.com/bigbrother.

The Information Management 2002 honor was awarded to Channel 4 Interactive related to the UK's popular television series, Big Brother. Channel 4 Interactive used the Interwoven 5 platform for the online delivery of content to millions of Big Brother fans in the UK. The Interwoven 5 platform supported an onsite team of more than forty content contributors and editors as they created and managed new and existing information. In addition to managing content, the Interwoven platform supported Big Brother live broadcasts via the Web. The Big Brother site also provided a wide range of personalized services, including continuous live coverage of the housemates, popularity polls, news updates, and look-alike competitions.

The award went to the most innovative and successful content management project. Projects that have had a significant impact on the organization's performance were a key criteria for the panel of judges. In order for Channel 4's Big Brother Online to target and attract millions of fans each day, it required a content management platform that was effectively able to handle massive amounts of continuous content.

"We are delighted to have won this award. Big Brother Online has been a huge success in 2002, attracting 3.5 million to 4.5 million impressions per day. Ensuring that the Big Brother site was easy to update and could provide entertaining content to the fans was a primary concern when choosing a content management platform," said Andrew Grumbridge, managing editor of Channel 4 Interactive "The site had to be flexible, allowing creative editors to rapidly update material and integrate content from external providers. Interwoven provided us with an ECM solution with the flexibility and scalability to make various information services available to all people in the medium of their choice."

Channel 4 is one of five terrestrial channels in the UK, with a reputation for diversity and innovation in both online and offline media. It has expanded its offering in recent years, establishing itself at the forefront of interactive entertainment ventures.

"The Interwoven 5 platform simplifies the job of delivering vast amounts of interactive content to a demanding audience," said James Murray, sales director, Interwoven UK & Ireland. "With the Interwoven solution, the Channel 4 team was able to spend less time managing their content and more time on delivering the creative ideas that have led to their success. Winning the IM 2002 award provides well-deserved recognition to Channel 4's achievement and demonstrates Interwoven's ability to deliver real business value in challenging circumstances."
