DevNet Becomes De Facto Source of Best Practices in Enterprise Content Management

SAN FRANCISCO - GearUp 2002 Conference - Oct. 30, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that the Interwoven Developer Network (DevNet) has quickly gained momentum among developers, partners, independent consultants, and value added resellers. DevNet is a state-of-the-art extranet equipped with rich technical articles, moderated forums, specifications, and webcasts devoted to building content-rich applications. Since its announcement in June, DevNet has attracted approximately 750 new members each month.

Developers need to be able to collaborate in order to increase productivity. Architects, designers, application engineers, and consultants worldwide have found that their productivity has increased since joining DevNet. DevNet participants find that many of their content challenges have been seen before, and that by reaching out to the community, they can find reliable and quick business solutions.

"DevNet has helped me identify content management best practices and avoid pitfalls by linking me to dozens of other highly skilled and very experienced Interwoven users across the world," said Thomas Vaughn, Interwoven Application Administrator for Keane, Inc. "Without DevNet, I can tell you that I would be half as productive on my own."

Interwoven experts regularly contribute to the collaborative process through best practice examples and deep technical knowledge. As such, DevNet has become the de facto source of open platform specifications for content management, metadata, and deployment functions.

"This standard is called Content Services and it was jointly developed by Interwoven and its technology partners," said Dr. Mark Hale, director of Content Technologies and DevNet project lead. "It ushers in a new breed of applications designed to meet mission-critical critical business needs. Developers are coming together from across the globe and from all industrial sectors working on creative solutions for eLearning, eGovernment, and CRM."

DevNet users are reporting that the exchange of information enhances the usability of Interwoven's products. Developers from Cambridge Technology Partners, the global eServices company of Novell, Inc., have been active users of DevNet.

"I have found the Interwoven DevNet to be a quintessential 'last piece of the support puzzle' when combined with the product documentation, Interwoven training, and the Support site," said Gregory Sumers, Technology Specialist for Cambridge Technology Partners. "It was easy to tell that most members of the DevNet community have been in real world environments. The mixing of perspectives is probably the best thing about it to me, and I think that's the reason DevNet has greatly helped me expand my range of knowledge."

Interwoven regularly demonstrates commitment to the developer community with additional resources beyond the DevNet extranet. The community can come together at key Interwoven events such as regional user groups and the annual GearUp conference. This year's conference w features a special technology sub-conference featuring innovators from Sun, IBM, Cisco, RSA, and an insightful keynote address by Kent Beck, the father of eXtreme programming. DevNet remains free of charge and can be accessed through a self-registration process at http://devnet.interwoven.cn.
