Bruce Silver Associates White Paper on Web Application Management to be Available During Interwoven GearUp Conference

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - October 28, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that Bruce Silver, principal of Bruce Silver Associates, a consultancy specializing in business process management and content management technology, will release a white paper entitled Web Application Management: Integrating Code and Content. The report will be distributed from October 29-30 at Interwoven's GearUp conference in San Francisco and details the challenges faced by enterprises that must manage both content and application code in developing and deploying today's online initiatives.

"Without a better means of bridging the code/content divide, companies are simply not going to fully realize the design cycle times originally promised by their content management provider," said Silver. "What they really need is Web Application Management (WAM), a new, integrated approach to code and content management that combines the best of software configuration management and content management in software that's usable by both code and content developers."

In the past, said Silver, segregating code and content management has presented significant challenges for organizations as they ramp up their eBusiness initiatives. This separation has resulted in degradations in the quality of their production sites, the necessity for employing cumbersome manual procedures, delays in deploying new online initiatives, and schedule slips for key site enhancements. Instead of maintaining separate repositories and testing environments for code and content under development, enterprises need only one. Thus, code and content can be developed in parallel, enabling the efficient, integrated testing of code and content prior to its deployment to production.

"The content and application code that drive today's online initiatives can no longer be supported in separate locations," said Jack Jia, CTO at Interwoven. "By integrating code and content management in a single, robust environment, enterprises will accelerate the development and deployment of Web-based applications while ensuring the lowest-possible cost of ownership."
