State-of-the-Art Implementation Delivers Greater Flexibility and Content Control to One of the Nation's Oldest Cultural Institutions
SAN FRANCISCO and SUNNYVALE, Calif. - August 13, 2002 - Interactive design firm 415, Inc. and Interwoven Inc., (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced the launch of a sophisticated content management system (CMS) for America's Library (www.americaslibrary.gov), the successful, historically-rich site created by 415 for the Library of Congress. 415's implementation of Interwoven's proven, scalable and easy-to-use solution provides substantial advantages for the extensive research, writing and maintenance required to keep America's Library fresh and engaging.
415 and Interwoven Enable Collaborative Content Control
The new system introduces additional customized content management as well as collaborative content control to a site representing the world's largest library and the nation's oldest federal cultural institution, and simplifies a number of labor-intensive processes, including research, content creation, editing, and maintenance. The CMS also creates a searchable directory of content and automates back-end management and maintenance by allowing the Library of Congress staff to collaborate on all types of documents and add, edit, manage, delete, and archive content for America's Library without external vendor assistance. Open and scalable, this initial implementation of the technology can be easily extended to manage information for other areas of the Library of Congress.
"Interwoven recently launched its Solution for Government with a commitment to making content contribution for government customers simple and manageable," said Jack Jia, CTO of Interwoven. "In concert with the 415 team, we provided a scalable, easy-to-use system that enables all contributing parties to collaborate on and share many types of content assets, ensuring that America's Library has the ability to manage information resources and create fresh content - with little training on Interwoven's industry-leading technology."
The project included four months of research and analysis, during which 415 selected Interwoven TeamSite software based on project requirements, product scalability and maturity, Interwoven's industry standing, and strong customer references. Customization and development followed, with 415 collaborating with Interwoven Professional Services to define and build automated workflows, along with significant input from the Library of Congress. While the project included the creation of a user interface and unique collaborative functionality within the CMS solution for managers and other back-end users, visitors to America's Library will notice no changes to the intuitive, accessible design.
"The new CMS solution enables the America's Library Web team to realize its full potential by making it easier for users across the organization to collaborate and manage readily the vast array of research and content that makes the site unique," said Grace Stanat, CEO of 415. "Whether it's front-end design or back-end implementation, we're committed to creating satisfying user experiences, and this project, with its intersection of user interface design, cultural relevance, and cutting-edge technology from Interwoven, appeals to our hearts as well as our heads."
