SUNNYVALE, Calif. - July 17, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leader in Enterprise Content Management, today announced the appointment of John Van Siclen as CEO. Mr. Van Siclen succeeds Martin Brauns who will continue as chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Brauns will remain active in his chairman role on Interwoven's strategy and vision.

Since joining Interwoven Mr. Van Siclen has been instrumental in leading a number of very successful company and product initiatives that have resulted in significant market and media attention. In December of last year, Interwoven won Transform Magazine's prestigious "2001 Product of the Year" award for Enterprise Content and Collaboration Technology. The only content management vendor to win, Interwoven was chosen from among 24 content and collaboration technology provider finalists. According to Transform Magazine, Interwoven succeeded in addressing the needs of the Global 2000 including scalability, globalization, portal integration, XML authoring, digital asset management, and conventional document management.
Recently, under Mr. Van Siclen's direction and vision, Interwoven spearheaded a 9-city worldwide product launch, introducing several new market-leading content applications for portals, code and collaborative document management built on top of the Interwoven 5 platform. These new products were extremely well received around the globe and resulted in more than 1,000 attendees.

Mr. Van Siclen joined Interwoven in 1999 as vice president of business development, was promoted to senior vice president of corporate development, then to COO and most recently served as president and COO since January of this year.
Prior to joining Interwoven, Mr. Van Siclen was president and CEO of Perspecta and served in several executive positions at Informix Software, Netframe Systems and Wyse Technology. Mr. Van Siclen has more than 24 years experience in the technology industry, primarily in sales, marketing, and business development.
