SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 18, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that Frost & Sullivan, an international strategic market consulting and training company, has awarded the company its prestigious 2001 Market Engineering Leadership Award. The award highlights that Interwoven is the only Web content management vendor to have increased market share between 2000 and 2001.

"In 2001 Interwoven was able to catapult into a dominant position as a market share leader in the most challenging business environment in a decade," said Jarad Carleton, Program Leader of Internet Infrastructure at Frost & Sullivan. "Interwoven's ability to capture market share in a highly competitive market is a testament to its understanding that businesses need a solution that will manage web content while simultaneously reducing labor costs."

According to Frost & Sullivan, Interwoven's success in the 2001 U.S. Web content management market is attributed to its ability to develop products that answer the content management needs of the Global 1000. Its success is also due to its recognition of the necessity to work with partners to ensure the client has a solution specifically tailored to their needs. Interwoven has also displayed an outstanding ability to understand what its target market wants in a Web content management solution and has developed powerful sales tools that give it a competitive edge. As a result, Interwoven is the clear market share leader.

"Frost & Sullivan's prestigious award is affirmation of what our world-class customers such as GE, Compaq and British Airways have been telling us all along," said Martin Brauns, president and CEO of Interwoven. "Our industry leading content infrastructure product suite allows contributors to work with any asset on multiple initiatives in parallel. This capability is proof of our continuous technology innovation and has made us the clear market leader in the content management space and in the broader category of Content Infrastructure."
