Ease of Use to Empower Employees System Wide to Make Critical Medical Information Available in Minutes Instead of Days
Sunnyvale, CA - August 28, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) has selected Interwoven's Content Infrastructure for their www.med.upenn.edu Website. The Content Infrastructure product suite will empower employees to contribute content to the site so that patients and site visitors have access to timely and relevant information.
"Managing current content for the publishing of clinical programs and other patient-focused information was a top priority in choosing a Content Infrastructure solution," said Todd Kirkes, senior analyst, Web applications group at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. "Interwoven's Content Infrastructure will empower staff to contribute directly to the Website by allowing UPHS contributors to easily change and update Web content. With Content Infrastructure, we anticipate turning days to minutes when calculating overall time-to-Web."
Because most departments at UPHS maintain their own Website sections, it was required that contributors attend a class to learn how to use Web content creation software and how to queue information in HTML. This then limited the number of contributors to the Website. In addition to their regular tasks, contributors were then required to post content on the Website and ensure its accuracy. As a result, content did not get updated as frequently as needed and retraining became an issue when employees left. Interwoven's Content Infrastructure enables employees across the enterprise to easily contribute to the Web, via a browser, with minimal training, therefore allowing the UPHS to save both time and money.
"Timely, relevant medical information is a critical component to delivering excellent customer service for a health system," said Joe Ruck, senior vice president, marketing at Interwoven "By using Interwoven's Content Infrastructure, the University of Pennsylvania Health System is responding to the need to provide patients and site visitors easy access to current vital, medical information."
TeamSite's Casual Contributor interface provides URL-based access to tasks and Web assets, enabling all contributors, regardless of technical expertise, to directly access TeamSite tasks with a simple point-and-click on a URL. With TeamSite, all users-authors, editors, administrators and masters-can embed links to tasks, workflow or any content file for editing or modification in e-mail messages. The Casual Contributor Interface also enables external users to work securely via WebDesk from remote locations. The University of Pennsylvania Health System is distinguished not only by its historical significance - first hospital (1751), first medical school (1765), first university teaching hospital (1874), first fully integrated academic health system (1993) - but by its position as a major player on the world stage of medicine in the 21st century. Committed to a three-part mission of education, research, and clinical excellence, UPHS has excelled in all three areas. This year, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine was ranked third among all U.S. medical schools by U.S. News & World Report. Penn ranked second among all American medical schools that received funds from the National Institutes of Health, perhaps the single most important barometer of research strength.
