Content Infrastructure Underpins Worldwide eBusiness Initiatives

SUNNYVALE, California - July 30, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that De Beers Consolidated Mines, the Johannesburg-based diamond company, has standardized on Interwoven's Content Infrastructure for multiple eBusiness initiatives. Advised and implemented by Accenture, Interwoven's Content Infrastructure software now allows marketing and managerial executives to contribute and manage content for three De Beers Web sites. These sites include the public Web site, an extranet for De Beers' clients and the company intranet that supports employees at multiple diamond mines.

De Beers Enhances Communication
"De Beers is the world's most recognized diamond name, so accurate content, and thus the protection of our name, was a top requirement for us," explained James Campbell, eBusiness program director for De Beers Group. "Interwoven's Content Infrastructure not only lets us control our corporate image, but also allows us to extend controlled content contribution to non-technical staff, thus delivering enhanced productivity on our various eBusiness initiatives, all of which require the input of a wide range of subject matter experts."

De Beers realized immediate returns on its investment in Interwoven products. With Content Infrastructure in place, the content experts themselves now update the Web site more frequently. Non-technical employees in South Africa and the UK have been able to collaborate and contribute news to the company Web site quickly to keep investors, employees and the public informed with up-to-date information during a recent acquisition.

Diamond Clients Go Online
De Beers' London-based marketing arm, The Diamond Trading Company ("DTC"), has already launched a pilot extranet to a select group of its clients. The extranet, called The Sightholders Network, will utilize Interwoven's Content Infrastructure and will embrace all 125 clients when fully rolled out.

"There is clearly a real appetite among our suppliers and partners to use the Web to do business," explained Jamie Mordaunt, project manager for the Sightholders Network. "We used to publish a magazine and communicate with them by phone and fax. Interwoven's Content Infrastructure will allow us to publish value-added news, information, text and pictures to our international markets with speed and precision we could not have offered before."

Employees Collaborate Across Borders
A De Beers intranet is in development, which when complete will extend Web content contribution and collaboration capabilities to employees at 18 diamond mines across South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. Users will share online information directly with the headquarters in Johannesburg.

"World renowned companies like De Beers understand how vital consistent branding and fresh, informative content is to online business," said David Ogidi, managing director of Interwoven UK. "By empowering their employees with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure, De Beers will be able to quickly deliver exactly what its customers and dealers demand, and with the accuracy required by the international diamond market."
