Department of Education and Training Users to Control, Share and Update Information Across Multiple Web Sites
Sydney, 23 July, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that the Department of Education and Training (DET) in the State of New South Wales (NSW) has chosen Interwoven Content Infrastructure software to empower contributors to work collaboratively to create, preview and approve online content, such as course and subject information.
DET is responsible for the delivery and coordination of education and training services across NSW, encompassing early childhood through to adult and community education. DET's various sites include TAFE, HSC Online and New HSC. In looking to move away from a project-based solution for these sites, or no solution at all, DET required a more comprehensive infrastructure approach.
Working closely with reseller ComTech, Interwoven delivered a centralised solution that empowers contributors of all abilities, manages diverse Web assets, and supports multiple online initiatives within DET's large and diverse organisation.
DET selected Interwoven TeamSite software because it allows schools, institutes and state office directorates to capture and edit content and to publish material in a range of formats to Internet and Intranet sites within the TAFE and Schools Web presence. This capability forms an essential component of the services to internal and external clients such as teachers, non-teaching staff, students and the community.
"TeamSite will initially be installed for the TAFE NSW Web site and it is anticipated that the system will also be applied, either in parallel or soon after, to other departmental Internet sites," said John Banham, CIO Department of Education and Training for New South Wales.
"Our selection criteria was driven by the need to find a system that was able to work across our existing infrastructure. We not only needed to be able to support the diverse range of desktop configurations from Macintosh to WINTEL systems, but also support a development platform of Sun/Solaris and have the ability to interface with the Internet environment of Digital/Unix. Additionally, we required a scalable solution that could potentially handle a very large number of contributors."
"Using TeamSite's content collaboration capabilities, any user within DET can contribute content through an easy interface. By empowering contributors of all abilities to work collaboratively and in parallel, DET will be better able to support multiple online initiatives," said Kyle McManus, Managing Director of Interwoven Australia/New Zealand.
