Sunnyvale, Calif., November 20, 2000 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management solutions, today announced that in under twelve weeks, it completed the implementation of its content management solutions at Construmix.com, a vertical B2B portal for the Latin American construction industry. TeamSite was selected by iXL, a global e-business consulting company, and Cemtec, a leading IT and eBusiness consultant, because TeamSite's open, standards-based architecture provided a scalable solution that seamlessly integrated into the overall portal architecture, which included other best-of-breed solutions such as BEA WebLogic and Epicentric Portal Server.
Construmix, based in Mexico, is the first full-service marketplace and construction community in Latin America that allows construction firms, contractors and sub-contractors to conduct efficient and secure transactions, access up-to-the-minute industry information, and participate in an on-line construction community. Users will also be able to conduct a series of daily B2B activities on-line, including request for quotation, sourcing, bidding, requisition and procurement of construction materials and services.
"Construmix.com's goal is to enable visitors to access up-to-date construction information on-line. Because of this, it is critical that we integrate supplier content in a timely manner, in order to keep the site relevant for visitors," said Enrique Bilbao, CEO of Construmix. "A scalable, easy to use enterprise-class content management system like TeamSite was critical to our on-time launch and future growth."
Construmix uses TeamSite to manage and version control Web content and source code assets including Java scripts and Java Server Pages. TeamSite provides a mechanism to easily create, identify and deploy data to Oracle databases. This information is then used to accurately identify content for the BEA WebLogic Personalization server and Epicentric Portal Server. The end result is that visitors receive relevant and compelling content on the Construmix Web site.
"We recommended TeamSite for the Construmix site because it can manage and version-control all the code and diverse content that needed to be rapidly developed and deployed for the launch of the site," said Eric Swanson, vice president of Business Life Cycle Management at iXL. "Moving forward, TeamSite's scalability and flexibility will allow Construmix to rapidly adopt new content sources and empower external content providers to seamlessly integrate their content into the site."
Interwoven TeamSite and TeamSite Templating will enable technical and non-technical content contributors to create and manage new content and publish it to the Construmix Web site without HTML knowledge. By separating form from content, TeamSite Templating makes it easy for content to be entered, tagged with metadata and repurposed for multiple sites. When the Construmix site is rolled out for other Latin American markets, existing content can be repurposed rather than requiring content to be developed from scratch. TeamSite also provides a virtual development environment so contributors can test exactly how the content will appear to site viewers before publishing to the Internet.
Most of the site development took place in Atlanta, Georgia supported by the team from iXL, Cemtec, and Interwoven. Other technology partners involved in the Construmix implementation included Ariba, Epicentric and BEA.
