Global Investment Banking Firm Also to use Interwoven's XML-based
Technologies for Wireless Content, Building on Its Wired Web Investment
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - September 28, 2000 - Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the
leading provider of enterprise-class content management solutions, today announced
that Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), a leading global investment bank, has
implemented Interwoven TeamSite and OpenDeploy for global Web content management.
Using Interwoven software, the investment firm's CSFB.com
Web site along with its industry-leading Corporate Recruiting, CSFBTech, Global
Foreign Exchange, and PrimeVision Web applications are now deploying investment
research, complex applications, and other time-sensitive content to the Web
more than six times faster than its previous system allowed.
Together, Interwoven's scalable TeamSite and OpenDeploy software allows CSFB
to distribute hundreds of investment research reports per day in about twenty
minutes' time - a process that previously took several hours per report. It
is no small feat for CSFB, which has thousands of production Web sites running
on nearly 400 servers, in nine data centers spread across seven countries. The
firm's 36-person Web Services team manages all the required multi-point distributions,
and needs the leverage of an advanced content management and deployment solution.
Moreover, hundreds of authors, editors, and other content owners worldwide make
contributions to CSFB's external Web sites and research applications.
Interwoven helps to speed the availability of new Web content across CSFB's
complex network of contributors and distribution points in three critical ways.
First, the advanced workflow of TeamSite makes it easy for contributors to post
content and frees up the Web team by streamlining approvals and quality checks.
Second, the combination of TeamSite and OpenDeploy allows CSFB to create one
centralized content source per web site or application and then deploy it in
the appropriate format to Web sites around the world, eliminating unnecessary
redundancies. Third, professional services and CSFB have created a customized
implementation of Interwoven OpenDeploy, that automatically routes content to
the target servers minimizing load on the wide area network using proprietary
algorithms and minimizing business-critical distribution times.
"CSFB needs to move relevant, accurate content from the creator to our customers
as quickly as possible -it is a requirement for a market leader," said Evan
Bauer, director of global information technology for Credit Suisse First Boston.
"Before implementing Interwoven, our senior engineers spent an inordinate amount
of time on routine validation and distribution tasks. With Interwoven solutions
in place, we've gained back dozens of hours of their time every week and can
put them to use on projects that create new opportunities for the business.
We've also reduced complexity within our content management systems, since we
now have just one product set across both geographies and our Solaris and NT
technology platforms."
"As we aggressively expand our wireless Internet strategy, Interwoven's new
XML-based technologies will let us use a single toolset and common content across
protocols and connection mechanisms, building on our wired Web investment,"
added Bauer.
Interwoven TeamSite software also enables CSFB to more efficiently meet US
and international requirements for keeping records of its Web site content.
TeamSite's workflow and version control allow CFSB to efficiently meet its Web
content record-keeping responsibilities, in accordance with the Securities Exchange
Commission - (SEC) and Federal Reserve regulations, as well as regulatory agencies
outside the U.S. As an investment bank, CSFB must maintain archives of all content
currently and previously posted to all production Web sites. Using the TeamSite
repository with its version control capability, CSFB can recreate a version
of the site at any point in time since it was put under TeamSite control.
"The sensitive nature of financial investment information places investment
banking firms under tremendous scrutiny by government agencies and the general
public," said Joe Ruck, vice president of marketing for Interwoven Inc. "Through
the unique versioning of TeamSite, which allows a company to capture and store
the complete state of a Web site, Credit Suisse First Boston has complete records
of its Web site at each production stage."
Interwoven TeamSite and OpenDeploy are also used to manage the configuration
and distribution of CSFB's Web infrastructure products including Netscape Enterprise
Server, IBM WebSphere, and Verity Search Server. As a result, CSFB managers
and clients across 36 countries have more timely information than ever for determining
their investment strategies.
