Following Interwoven-Enabled Personalization Effort, Membership
in Web Community Grows
SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 28, 2000 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading
provider of enterprise-class content management solutions, today announced that
ChipCenter, LLC ( www.chipcenter.com )
has successfully implemented Interwoven TeamSite to manage its Web site content.
ChipCenter, the first comprehensive online service of electronic component information
and sourcing for engineers and purchasers, facilitates e-Commerce transactions
by providing fulfillment, news, reviews and communities.
Through TeamSite's integration with Art Technology Group Inc.'s Dynamo Product
Suite, ChipCenter can tailor this content to customers' preferences for the
first time. Since implementing Interwoven, membership in ChipCenter's Web community
has grown significantly.
ChipCenter's Web-production staff, based in San Francisco, can now easily manage
the development and distribution of content from more than 50 contributing editors
throughout the country. TeamSite's workflow allows the production staff to assign
tasks to the contributor base, allows contributors to submit their work for
approval, and gives final sign-off authority to the appropriate editor. With
TeamSite's flexible workflow, the approval process is now fully integrated with
the publishing process. Because TeamSite Templating separates content from the
way it is presented, it allows ChipCenter's contributors to focus on the value
of the content rather than its structure. Interwoven's open standards-based
interface also streamlined the integration of TeamSite with ATG's Dynamo.
"At ChipCenter, quality content drives commerce," said Madhukar C. Govindaraju,
chief technology officer, ChipCenter, LLC. "We strive to keep our content as
vibrant and updated as possible. Since launching myChipCenter in May, we have
been relying on TeamSite for delivery of on-demand news and information about
electronic components as a personalized service for our members. The quality
content that TeamSite helps us distribute quickly and efficiently has already
boosted our membership, as well as the traffic."
Now that TeamSite enables a virtual collaboration of contributors, editors
and Web-production staff, ChipCenter no longer relies on e-mails for version
approvals and time-consuming manual editing to produce or update content. Now
content owners can update the Web site automatically following approval, resulting
in more timely information for customers.
"Leading e-Commerce companies like ChipCenter recognize that they need to cater
content to their customers - and deliver it quickly - to stay competitive,"
said Joe Ruck, vice president of marketing, Interwoven. "TeamSite makes it possible
for contributors and content managers to collaborate, create and deploy breaking
news or other crucial information to their sites in the shortest possible time
frame. Additionally, the combination of TeamSite and ATG makes it easy to personalize
and deliver exactly the kind of content demanded by customers, enabling ChipCenter
to be a truly dynamic Web site."
ChipCenter's site has received many recent accolades for its timely content
and transactions via a "supercatalog" of franchised electronic components that
are fulfilled by distribution partners such as Arrow, Avnet, Pioneer-Standard,
Nu Horizons and TTI. ChipCenter, LLC has been named one of the 200 best B2B
companies in Forbes.com's "Best of the Web: B2B," and Inter@ctive Week gave
ChipCenter an "A" rating for "bringing together in one place everything an engineer
could want." Such positive notice points to ChipCenter's awareness that quality
content and content management are key foundations for a successful B2B marketplace.
"At ChipCenter we've been impressed with Interwoven's products and delivery
for us, added Govindaraju,, "and we're excited about their new B2B framework,
Content Interchange. It's the future of content management on an inter-enterprise
basis." For more information on Content Interchange, see http://www.interwoven.cn/news/press/2000/0816frameworkpr.html .
