TeamSite Drives Global Brand Consistency While Helping Thousands
of Contributors Across 81 Countries to Create and Manage Multilingual Web Content
SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 17, 2000 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading
provider of enterprise-class content management software, today announced that
HSBC Holdings has standardized on Interwoven TeamSite as the content management
system to drive www.hsbc.com. Headquartered in London, HSBC is one of the largest
banking and financial services organizations in the world with US $580 billion
in assets as of June, 30, 2000, 25 million customers, and more than 6,000 offices
in 81 countries and territories. HSBC is using Interwoven's advanced workflow
capabilities and templating to establish a global brand identity on the Web
while enabling thousands of contributors to quickly and easily post new content.
HSBC has established a centralized Web hosting center in the U.S. to manage
content for hsbc.com worldwide. Interwoven TeamSite software's workflow functionality
and scalable architecture will enable thousands of contributors across 81 countries
and territories to post content once and rely on Interwoven solutions to tailor
it for HSBC's country- and division-specific Web sites. Because TeamSite Templating
separates content contribution from content presentation, HSBC employees can
create content using their preferred applications such as Microsoft Office.
Support for multibyte languages also allows content contributors to enter content
and conduct their own quality-assurance testing in their own language.
TeamSite, through its integration with the Art Technology Group Inc. (ATG)
Dynamo Product Suite, also will allow HSBC to dynamically customize content
for the financial firm's individual customers worldwide. These customers will
receive - in their own language - personalized information about HSBC services
and regional offices.
"A top priority for HSBC is building on the trust and quality associated with
our global organization while catering to the specific needs of customers in
each region," said Jeff Wolfers, senior manager, HSBC Group Technology Strategy.
"With the help of TeamSite, hsbc.com will strengthen our brand by presenting
a single face to our 25 million customers worldwide while providing relevant,
localized information. After reviewing the available alternatives, only Interwoven
could meet our content management and scalability demands for creating a single
Web hosting center capable of supporting our global Web presence."
"As one of the world's largest financial institutions, HSBC understands the
critical requirements for competing globally via the Web," said Joe Ruck, vice
president of marketing at Interwoven. "By standardizing on Interwoven, HSBC
has unmatched scalability, templating and workflow functionality to quickly
post content from thousands of contributors around the globe - regardless of
their native language or skills. HSBC now has the ability to gain a competitive
advantage by more quickly bringing new products and services to the Web tailored
for maximum response in each of its markets."
Headquartered in London, the HSBC Group is one of the largest banking and financial
