TeamSite Provides Cost-effective Content Management
and Application Development for Rapidly-changing E-Business Web Sites
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 14, 1999 - - Interwoven, Inc. the leading
supplier of content management software for the enterprise Web, today
announced that Best Buy Co., Inc., the nation's largest volume specialty
retailer, has selected Interwoven's TeamSite for management and deployment
of content on its Web sites. Best Buy will be revamping its corporate
Intranet and re-launching its e-commerce site, all using Interwoven TeamSite
robust and scalable software solutions on the Windows NT platform.
Best Buy's e-commerce Web site, www.bestbuy.com, currently complements
its existing nationwide network of more than 300 stores by selling music
and DVD movies and providing extensive product information to customers.
Best Buy has plans to significantly expand its e-commerce offering in
the future. In order to develop and manage these rapidly changing, business-critical
Web sites, Best Buy required an e-business platform that is open, flexible,
quick-to-deploy and integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Site Server.
According to John Walden, President of Best Buy's E-Commerce Division,
"The Web offers us new ways to improve our relationships with customers
by providing superior information, customer service and commerce capabilities.
We evaluated a number of solutions for Web publishing, only TeamSite combined
the enterprise-level content management we needed with the sophisticated
application development environment that our e-commerce engines demanded."
Best Buy's Internet development team will be the first Best Buy group
to use Interwoven's TeamSite. Later this year, TeamSite will be rolled
out to manage Best Buy's corporate intranet with its thousands of users,
all of whom will be able to contribute content thanks to the ease-of-use
of TeamSite's SmartContext editing and TeamSite Templating features.
Martin Brauns, CEO of Interwoven, said, "Market leaders like Best Buy
know that an e-business strategy is an important part of their competitive
advantage. TeamSite provides the open, adaptable and scalable e-business
